Former rap mogul Suge Knight scheduled to return to court

Redden said she never recovered her professional camera, which was taken by a woman who attacked her and Williams. By the time police arrived at the studio, Knight and Williams were gone. That persuaded investigators that Knight was a co-conspirator in the robbery, Schwartz said. “My head hit a couple things”, she said.

Knight and Katt Williams are charged with robbery for the incident that took place in Beverly Hills past year. Dressed in a purple outfit, Redden testified that she was not filming Knight’s son and was wearing the camera on her chest.

She testified that she was physically attacked by the unidentified woman at Knight’s request. She said that she had not fought back against the woman. The attorney argued that Knight was only anxious about protecting his young son and that the utterances he had made before the alleged robbery did not rise to the level of criminal threats.

The ’90s rap impresario claims paparazzo Leslie Redden is the one to blame, because she crossed the line when she allegedly recorded images of his son in an alley behind a film studio just days after Knight was shot in a nightclub ambush. “I had no idea that it was Suge Knight’s son”, she said, noting that she could have photographed the boy earlier when he was running outside with Williams and didn’t know it was Knight’s son until after the confrontation began.

Williams’ attorney, Shawn Holley, described her client’s involvement as “very fleeting”.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge heard testimony during the roughly one-hour preliminary hearing and determined there was enough evidence to move toward trial, said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the L.A. County district attorney’s office.

Knight and Williams were ordered back to court for a follow-up arraignment on October. 27. Knight is also scheduled to appear in court December 11 for a pretrial hearing on an unrelated murder case in which he is charged with one felony count each of murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run for allegedly running down two men in Compton on January 29, killing one and injuring the other. Outside the courtroom, Mesereau said he was disappointed by the court’s decision.
