Rat fights pigeon in battle of New York’s most notorious pests
Today’s episode of Wait, wut?! brings you a rat and pigeon duking it out on a New York City sidewalk.

You don’t actually get to see the rat make lunch out of the pigeon, thankfully, because he takes his kill discreetly over to the other side of the fence before having his feast.
The pigeon almost gets away at one point but with a wing likely damaged by the scarily-large rat’s teeth it can only flap wildly while the speedy rodent scurries after it and finishes the hunt.
It shows what essentially is a fight to the death, starting with the rat pouncing on the unsuspecting bird.
A video of an epic Pigeon vs. Rat showdown, which was originally posted to YouTube in August 2014, resurfaced on the Internet this week, perhaps in the flurry of rodent-related news inspired by Pizza Rat.
Before you start feeling sympathy for the bird, keep in mind that New York pigeons are a rare breed that show no fear of humans whatsoever.
Meanwhile bystanders can be heard yelling: “Run, run pigeon!”
There is a futile last flap of the wings from the pigeon, but it’s clear the bird’s injuries have become too much as it becomes still.

As the fight comes to an end, another person shouts: “Nature at its very cruelest”.
