Child of the ’60s HR Pufnstuf visits ‘Mutt & Stuff’ to entertain 21st-century
The iconic Sid and Marty Krofft characters, first made famous on the late 1960s Saturday morning show “H.R. Pufnstuf”, will crash the Krofft brothers’ new Nickelodeon series “Mutt & Stuff”, according to an Associated Press report on Tuesday. The special will be part of the network’s order for 20 additional episodes of live-action preschool series “Mutt & Stuff” from Sid and Marty Krofft, the creators of “Pufnstuf”. Production begins this fall with a premiere date set for early 2016.

Debuting in 1969, the offbeat “H.R. Pufnstuf” centered on a shipwrecked boy named Jimmy who, along with his talking flute Freddy, arrives on Living Island, where he’s protected by its mayor, the helpful dragon H.R. Pufnstuf, from the wicked witch Witchiepoo.
The series follows the Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan as he and his son, Calvin welcome preschoolers inside a special school for dogs (both real and puppet versions).
H.R. Pufnstuf, Cling and Clang, and the entire gang are making a return to TV.
“If we did the drugs everybody thought we did, we’d be dead today”, he said. You can’t do good television while on drugs.
“The shows were very bright and spacey looking”, he added.
The Kroffts have big plans for Pufnstuf and crowd, with possible vehicles including a feature film and their own new TV series. Pufnstuf may also return in future episodes.
“To make another hit at this time in our lives, I’ve got to give ourselves a pat on the back”, Marty Krofft said.

Might other producers be resting on their felt-covered laurels at this point?
