However, the child has suffered a “life-changing” injury, police confirmed.

A second feud, unconnected to Monday night’s attack, centred on another area of the city, Little Hulton, has also broken out, with at least six shootings linked with that.
At around half 9 last night, 2 men knocked on the front door of a property on Gillingham Road in Salford.
He said the shooting was a “sickening and cowardly act” and called for those in criminal gangs to “search their souls” to end the gangland violence that is thought to have been behind the killing of Massey in July.
Police revealed the first suspect is a white man, aged 19 or 20, with a chunky build. He had a local accent, wore stubble on his face and was wearing a baseball cap.
After exchanging words on the doorstep one man fired three shots “at close range”, hitting the woman twice and the boy once.
A major manhunt has been launched to find the gunmen, Greater Manchester Police deputy chief constable Ian Hopkins said.
Massey, 55, a well-known figure in the criminal underworld in Greater Manchester, was shot dead outside his home in a targeted attack.
Rival gangs are understood to be involved in drug dealing, loan sharking and extortion, but Mr Jackson said the gang war may also be over other issues. “Breaking this wall of silence could protect young children”, he said.
The mayor of Salford, Ian Stewart, said: “This incident has taken crime to the lowest level we have ever seen before”.
Massey, who was given a 10-year jail sentence for a knife attack in 1999, repeatedly denied he was involved in organised crime despite earning the nickname “Salford’s Mr Big”. “Someone knows who is responsible for these crimes”. The boy was expected to have surgery on Tuesday.
Last night, neighbours described their terror after hearing a “popping” sound, which they initially dismissed as fireworks.
A neighbour said: ‘I heard two bangs at 9.30pm.
“It’s scary but we a think it’s a case of mistaken identity”.
“Next thing the police turned up”.
One resident told the Manchester Evening News: “We heard two shots”.
“The safety and care of our pupils is an absolute priority and we will work with police as this investigation continues to ensure pupils are safe and families get the support they need’. It’s quiet here and nothing really happens”.
Greater Manchester police (GMP) explained at a press conference on Tuesday that two men approached the house, in the Eccles area of Salford, on Monday night..

“We arrested seven men this morning in relation to this series of incidents in Little Hulton and charged 22 people last month following a series of arrests linked to organised crime”.
