Also on Sunday a Palestinian bomber bound for Jerusalem was severely injured when she detonated a gas canister after being stopped by a traffic officer near a West Bank checkpoint.

On Saturday, Palestinians carried out two stabbing attacks in Jerusalem before being shot dead by police, while two Palestinian youths, ages 13 and 11, were killed near the Gaza border fence, as a weeklong bout of violence showed no signs of slowing.
Police are on high alert in all major cities across Israel, and an Israeli ambulance drove through central Jerusalem Sunday night and announced an emergency blood drive over a loudspeaker.
Hanan Ashrawi, a senior Palestinian Liberation Organization official, accused Israel on Sunday of inciting violence against Palestinians, citing recent calls by Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat for all Jewish Israelis to carry licensed firearms. Zoabi condemned the efforts to ban the Islamic Movement, saying the government seeks to “remove the Palestinian citizens from the legitimate political arena … and that is what encourages subversive activity”.
Officers released a video to the media showing a body and a knife on the ground but not the alleged confrontation.
