Diggs will play “Dr. Mike Boyce” on the show, an infectious disease doc based in Miami and Rosewood’s best friend. Dr. Boyce also draws romantic interest from Detective Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz), which catches Rosie off-guard. In 2013 he starred in the feature film “The Best Man”.

Taye Diggs is headed to Miami with an M.D. degree. He was featured in a recurring role last fall on CBS’ “The Good Wife”.

Diggs (The Best Man Holiday, Private Practice) will join the first-season drama (Wednesday, 8 p.m. ET/PT), which stars Morris Chestnut, for a multi-episode story arc starting in November. Having had stints on other hit med shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice”, he’ll have no trouble pulling off his character’s mastery of complicated medical speak. The series comes from executive producer Todd Harthan (“Psych”, “Dominion”) and also stars Lorraine Toussaint (“Orange is the New Black”).
