Hamilton was running second to Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg when the German ran into problems with his throttle early in the race and had to retire.

Rosberg has now retired in two of the last four races – Italy and Russian Federation – while Hamilton was forced out of the race in Singapore.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel finished second with Sergio Perez in a Force India completing the podium in Sochi.
It turned out to be a terminal failure, helping the lead is taken by Lewis Hamilton and eventually compelling Rosberg’s retirement from the race.
After Raikkonen was dropped from fifth to eight it ensured Mercedes had a big enough points gap to ensure that no other constructor can catch them and means they won the 2015 Constructor’s Championship.
Mercedes belatedly sealed consecutive team titles on Sunday after Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen was demoted to eighth by the stewards following his last-lap collision with Valtteri Bottas.
Hamilton concluded: “I did feel that the guys were going to do a good job, I just did not know it was going to be this good”. Rosberg slipped to third, 73 points adrift on 229.
The 30-year-old Briton also has one hand on the drivers’ title after he recorded his ninth victory of the season in front of Russian president Vladimir Putin.
It was under the safety vehicle dispatched for the Hulkenberg/Ericsson incident that Rosberg first experienced a problem with his throttle pedal. “We have two exceptional sportsmen at the wheel, Lewis and Nico, and a fantastic team behind the scenes, who have delivered 12 wins in 15 races so this year”.
Pirelli will continue to be the sole tyre supplier in Formula One after reaching an agreement with the sport’s commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone.
“It was tough, especially as I really felt the race was mine”. When I joined this team I had hoped something like this would happen but I ever thought it would happen as early as it has.
Hamilton’s day was not without a few drama itself, over fears his rear wing could snap.
“I couldn’t steer anymore because my knee was in the steering wheel”, he outlined.
A little over 24 hours after Carlos Sainz was airlifted to hospital following his crash in practice, Grosjean was in the wall at turn three.

That, of course, was at the 2014 Canadian Grand Prix, where Perez moved in a braking zone and collided with Williams’ Felipe Massa, sparking one of the most spectacular accidents of the modern era.
