For a while, the Kansas State Wildcats were dominating the No. 2 ranked TCU Horned Frogs.

Anyway, back to Kansas State football…
They forced two turnovers, including one when it mattered most, but this defense still has a ton of growing up to do. Third straight season both teams will start a quarterback making his OU-Texas debut. Kansas State doesn’t have the firepower to keep up the pace with all of these top-shelf attacks, so it has to hold on to the ball.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Spartans received a scare, but the offense did just enough to secure the victory. It won 55-52, thanks largely to an improbable tip and Green being in the right place at the right time.

The Horned Frogs trimmed the lead to 35-31 on Green’s touchdown run, and 42-37 on Boykin’s 14-yard run.
Georgia Tech entered the game ranked sixth nationally with an average of 311 yards per game. Boykin went 4-for-5 for 48 yards on the drive. The Bears have their best ranking ever. You have a touchdown lead. But on receiving, Klein has the only catches so far in the game.

Trevone Boykin then scored on back to back drives on runs of 14 and 69 yards. “You have to understand that they’re all targeting you”. For most of Saturday, they played from behind.

In a 45-42 game, however, with Boykin and Doctson playing out of their minds and having almost 1:45 in which to operate, the idea of doing anything other than going for that first down was absurd. If the Horned Frogs stumble, dropping a few games and careening toward a “New Year’s Six” bowl instead of a playoff game, then Boykin is less likely to win but not eliminated. And a large portion of these yards came from a single play, the zone read. Hubener passed the proper concussion protocols and was able to return to the field.
In two of their previous three losses, the Vols had blown double-digit leads. But David Beaty might have found a quarterback as freshman Ryan Willis gave them hope for the future with 156 yards and a touchdown pass. Beaty said he loved Willis’ approach and his mentality and can’t wait to see how he does in his second start. The final came on a 2-yard touchdown pass from Dobbs to running back Alvin Kamara, putting the Vols up 31-24.
There’s eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. Kansas State had the nation’s third best rushing defense coming into Saturday’s game….
Offensively, K-State moved the ball when they relied on what works. Green raced untouched up the middle for an 86-yard touchdown on the first play of the game. Like I heard Coach Snyder say, it was the first game of the year he saw his team play with passion.
Jordan Canzeri ran for 256 yards on a school-record 43 carries. Throw in the mistakes in the losses to Cal and Oklahoma State – two strong teams – and 2-4 looks a whole bunch better now. Perhaps the Wildcats wouldn’t have gained a first down on their next series of downs.
The Wildcat defense was burnt many times by the potent TCU offense, whether on the ground or through the air.
