‘I am the normal one’
Liverpool have confirmed the appointment of former Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp as their new manager.

Asked about Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho dubbing himself the “Special One”, Klopp was eager to describe himself as a “normal” bloke. “I’m the normal one”.
Rodgers, who was sacked last weekend after three years at the club, faced frequent criticism for his record in the transfer market during his tenure at Liverpool.
In an interview described by club legend Mark Lawrenson as “electrifying” he said: “I understand football”.
The new Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has talked about his recent move to Anfield and what changes he plans to bring to a team that has struggled for form this season. “I can say it’s the biggest honour I can imagine, one of the biggest clubs in the world”, he said. He twice won the Bundesliga with a squad that cost far less than Bayern Munich’s crop at the time and took the club to the Champions League final too.
“We have to develop”. This would be a really good moment for a restart.
He said: “Winning is important, but so is how you win and how you play the game”. I’m relaxed, I’m prepared. It’s important what people think when you leave.
“If someone wants to help Liverpool they have to change from doubters to believers”. But history is only the base for us but you don’t take the history in your backpack and carry it all day. “All the things that make football interesting for me I want to see on the pitch”.
“The German coach has signed a deal to take the helm at the Reds and will be presented at a press conference at Anfield on Friday morning”.
“Strong personality, very strong, very stubborn, determined and his performances, and his career at Dortmund was a stellar rise to the top and I think he’ll do very well. Everything is there. Now we need to work”. But how will his high pressing game work out in the Premier League? I’m a normal guy from the Black Forest.
“I don’t compare myself with genius managers of Liverpool”.
“This is a great club with a really good team, good potential, everything is there”.

“But as his window closes another one opens for someone else and it’s opened up for Jurgen Klopp and I’m sure he’ll weed out the players that he doesn’t want and he’ll get in the players that he wants”.
