Global traffic was up 7.2 per cent to 602,873 thanks to more people using the Ryanair network, including to Dublin, with destinations such as Malaga, Stockholm and Abu Dhabi proving popular for other airlines.
Passengers numbers on continental European routes grew 14 per cent to just over 1.2 million.
At Glasgow global traffic grew 16 per cent from 457,458 to 530,856 on the back of the sporting events as well as new Wizz Air routes, to Vilnius in Lithuania and the Polish city of Lublin, which launched on September 17.
“It’s fantastic to see our new routes are working well for our passengers – with over one million passengers through the doors at Edinburgh Airport last month and in every one of the last five months”.
In September 2015, the number of local passengers travelling through Vienna Airport increased by 5.7 percent, whilst a 1.2 percent rise was reported in the number of transfer passengers.

The success was linked to a 10.7 per cent growth in domestic passengers due to more people travelling to London City with BA Cityflyer and Flybe and to Stansted with Ryanair. In September 2015, the number of customers traveling to Western Europe rose by 4.4 percent, whilst the passenger volume to Eastern Europe increased by 2.4 percent. On balance, total passenger volume in the period January to September 2015 climbed 1.5% year-on-year, according to Vienna Airport.
