“America is rejoicing over the killing of Abu Mutaz al-Qurashi and considers this a great victory”, the spokesman said in the recording, which was posted on various jihadi websites.

Adnani added that Quarashi had left heroes to fight the Americans and their allies.

It said the strike targeted a vehicle and also killed an Islamic State “media operative” known as Abu Abdullah.

It had said that Hayali was a primary coordinator for moving large amounts of weapons, explosives, vehicles and people between Iraq and Syria.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria had not commented on the reports until now.

The Iraqi military said in a statement Sunday that IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was believed to be in a convoy that was hit by the Iraqi air force.

Like many senior Iraqi jihadists, Hayali had been a member of Al-Qaeda’s Iraqi faction before joining Isis.

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has vowed to defeat Russian Federation in Syria after the former launched airstrikes against the militants last month.

Abu Muslim al-Turkmani, also known as Haji Mutaz and Abu Mutaz al-Qurashi, was blown up in an attack near Mosul on August 18, according to the White House.
