Brett Favre says he can still play football

Favre and the Packers went through a messy divorce, spurred by the quarterback’s wishy-washy disposition about his future.

Favre said he still makes the occasional trip to the area high school where he tosses the football with local players, but those Mississippi afternoons in a stadium much smaller than any NFL venue have helped Favre come to grips with his football mortality. “We’re not trying to start some he’s-coming-out-of-retirement deal, but I could play“.

Favre says he can still fire off 50-yard throws, not quite as long as the 80-yard passes he made in his prime, but not too shabby for a guy his age. Favre mentioned that when he put the jersey on, it felt “big”. He later played one season in New York and two in Minnesota, leading the Vikings to the 2010 NFC Championship game. When I pick up a ball, I’m thinking I’m right back in the Super Bowl.

“I’ll throw it at 52, and [the receiver is] standing at 55, and I’m like, ‘Brett, just give it up”.
