The Sports Legends Museum that has been a part of Baltimore for 10 years has closed down after failing to reach an agreement with the Maryland Stadium Authority on a new lease.

The Sports Legends Museum displayed the broad panorama of Baltimore’s and Maryland’s sports heritage, including the Orioles, Colts, Ravens, Blast, Negro League baseball teams, the Preakness Stakes, the University of Maryland and other regional colleges. “We didn’t think it was a financially viable option for us”. “MSA countered with a higher rent payment and a lease term of one year”.
Gibbons said his organization has begun scouting new locations in the Baltimore area, but any relocation would not be immediate. The rent there was $17,000, but the museum only wanted to pay $10,000.
On Friday, the board of directors for the foundation made a decision to reject the offer, and the museum will be closed, effective immediately.
Millions of dollars were invested in the renovation of the museum.
“If you take a look around this place, this place took years to design”.
Brett Hollander talks with Mike Gibbons about the future of the Sports Legends Museum after the announcement they are leaving Camden Station.

“We have been negotiating with [the MSA] since our previous lease ran out in April, so we’ve been on a series of one-month leases trying to negotiate a deal that would work for them and would work for us, and ultimately we were unable to do that”, Gibbons said.
Over the summer, the stadium authority released a request for prospective tenants to lease the state-owned property.
