Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight contender Stipe Miocic is injured and no longer competing at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 76 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on UFC Fight Pass, scheduled for October. 24, 2015, inside 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.
Miocic’s manager, Greg Kalikas, told MMAjunkie via a text message that the 33-year-old’s injury is “not serious” and added that he should be back in the Octagon by the end of the year. During the bout, the Cleveland native set a UFC record for the most strikes landed in a fight, outlanding Hunt 361 – 48.
A representative for the UFC said the organization is exploring options for a potential replacement opponent for Rothwell.
Miocic (13-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) has won four of his last five, with his last loss coming by way of an extremely close decision that went in favour of former champion Junior dos Santos.
