Sacramento Kings NEWS: Rajon Rondo’s Relationship With George Karl ‘Not Going

According to Kurt Helin of Pro Basketball Talk, Rondo had this to say when asked about his relationship with Karl by Cowbell Kingdom: “It’s not been going too well”. It’s possible he intended humor when he said he and Sacramento Kings coach George Karl have argued recently.

“It’s not been going to well”, Rondo said, via a video shared by Cowbell Kingdom.

We all know the Kings look better than they did a year ago on paper, but could they get it together and crack the top eight in the already stacked Western conference? Tim Bontemps at the New York Post believes so. “Hopefully, we’ll continue to talk and it will get better”.

Rajon Rondo did not have the free agency run he was hoping for. He’s rarely the most open player with the media, and it makes little sense for him to so candidly reveal a poor working relationship with Karl.

This isn’t exactly a new situation for Rondo, as he has been in disagreements with several different coaches in his past.

Rondo’s prickly personality has been well-documented over the years, but he hasn’t been considered toxic until now. He’s shooting 52 percent from the floor while averaging 6.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 22 minutes per game.

The problems was so bad in Dallas, Rondo was de-activated during the postseason. Especially as Rondo could become an instrumental player if he connects well with All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins to give the Kings’ offense greater passing flare and creativity. The Sacramento Kings also have a number of really good roles players now, with Marco Belinelli, Darren Collison, Kosta Koufos, and Ben McLemore giving the roster a lot of depth. The question at hand is whether they can turn that on-paper talent into more than the 29 wins they recorded last season.
