The plane still stopped at Alaska where the mother was taken to a local hospital, before the plane carried on to Los Angeles.
As for the nationality of the baby girl, that is said to depend upon the birth certificate issued by the Anchorage hospital as she was born in USA airspace but on-board a Republic of China aircraft. The video does not contain graphic images.
The flight took off from Taiwan Taoyuan global Airport at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday and was scheduled to arrive in the U.S.at 8:35 p.m., according to The China Post.
Passenger Amira Rajput posted a minute-long video of the birth on her YouTube channel, which has since racked up close to 300,000 views.
A Taiwanese woman unexpectedly went into labor in the middle of a flight and had her baby on the plane.
Six hours into the journey she suddenly went into labour. Passengers could also be heard in the background clapping and cheering.
Luckily, a doctor was on board and quickly jumped to her assistance.
“It was super chill”.
According to New York Daily News, China Airlines staff said pregnant women are only not allowed to fly if they reach the 32nd weeks of their pregnancies. “My training is in internal medicine pediatrics so we do adults and kids but really no pregnant women at all, so since my training we haven’t done much OBGYN”, Zen told ABC 7.
“He told me that this is something foreign women do, to try and deliver overseas for citizenship”, Rajput said.
