Peter Lerner, Spokesman for the Israel Defence Force(IDF), in a statement said in addition to the deployment, it would engage six companies to reinforce the police.
Authorities are also now allowed to demolish the homes of a few Palestinians accused of terrorism in a few neighborhoods, after receiving formal permission from the Israeli Cabinet, according to the New York Times.
The comments come after a particularly bloody day Tuesday in which a pair of Palestinian stabbing and shooting attacks in Jerusalem killed three Israelis and another two attacks took place in the normally quiet Israeli city of Raanana.
Two Israelis were killed and 16 injured on a bus in Jerusalem, after two assailants boarded, one with a gun, the second with a knife, opening fire and stabbing passengers.
REUTERS/Ronen ZvulunIsrael started setting up roadblocks in Palestinian neighborhoods in East Jerusalem and deploying soldiers in cities across the country on Wednesday to try to combat the worst surge of violence in months.
The government said the immediate aim was to stem stabbings and other attacks by Arab assailants, many of whom resided in Jerusalem’s eastern sectors. He also refused to condemn Palestinian leadership for inciting their people to murder innocents. “Anyone who raises their hand against us will have their hand cut off”, Netanyahu said during the meeting.
The official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, reported at least five Palestinians were wounded by “live ammunition” in northern Gaza at the Beit Hanoun crossing point Tuesday.
“This is unprecedented in many ways, to actually deploy formally Israeli soldiers on the streets alongside police officers”, he said. Tuesday, three Israelis were killed. Though Israel has pushed back against the rumors as untrue, violence has spread across Israel and into the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The causes of the turmoil are multiple, but Palestinians are angry about what they see as increased Jewish encroachment on the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem’s Old City, an area that is holy to both Muslims and Jews.
Masked Palestinians are throwing stones in Wednesday’s protest at forces who are responding with tear gas and stun grenades. Then the Secretary of State seemingly excused Palestinian terrorists for their barbaric actions against Israeli Jews.
Israeli rights group B’Tselem has called the Israeli government’s response to recent escalation in the area as “the very inverse of what ought to be done” in realistic efforts to stop current violence.
Palestinian leaders had called Tuesday a “Day of Rage” following a crackdown from Israeli security forces.

He further said that people from different walks of life are participating in the intifada, adding that Palestinians want to tell the occupiers that they can not stay in their homeland. The cabinet will convene once more on Wednesday afternoon to discuss how to “battle incitement” against Israel among Palestinians and Arab Israelis in the country.
