Man attempts to extinguish trash fire with ammunition van
A man had been burning his garbage in the field (as you really shouldn’t do), and the fire started to get out of the man’s control.

That’s when he chose to try to extinguish the flames by driving over it with his van, the Kansas City Star reported.
The man drove his van back and forth over the blaze in an attempt to smother it. But the van’s tires quickly caught fire, which rapidly spread to the rest of the van, which was loaded with firearms ammunitions.
Liberty and Fishing River Firefighters were able to put the fire out safely.
When the driver realized his huge error in judgment, he bailed from the vehicle and retreated to a safe location.
This afternoon a deputy went to investigate after seeing black smoke coming from a field near Old 210 Highway & Bluff Road, and found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.
The Liberty Fire Department arrived to contain the fire.
The deputy did not immediately cite the owner, who declined to make a report for a possible insurance claim.

“It seems like he’s just going to have to take a loss on that vehicle because I don’t think they’re going to cover it”, said the Clay County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
