As you’ve no doubt noticed, NFL players wear pink throughout the month of October to help raise awareness of breast cancer (which, we should note, does not help raise money for breast cancer research despite all the money the league rakes in). Williams’ mother Sandra Hill died from breast cancer in May 2014 and he has dyed part of his hair pink in her honor. The Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle wore eye black that had the words “Iron” and “Head” on separate strips during the game against San Diego Monday.

Heyward’s fine comes only days after the league told his teammate, DeAngelo Williams, that he has to stop wearing pink at the end of October.
Heyward isn’t the only Steeler who recently go the stiff arm from the league office in trying to honor a parent who battled cancer.
He was told by NFL VP of football operations Troy Vincent he couldn’t since the league doesn’t make exceptions to the uniform policy.
“I understand it’s a uniform policy”, Heyward said. They don’t want to upset anybody. I honor my dad.

This is not the first time Heyward has worn the “Ironhead” eye black, he said, but it is the first time he received a fine for doing so. But Cameron Heyward is dealing with a few questionable repercussions for showing his support.
