San Diego’s latest heat wave will moderate a bit by Thursday, but the county will still be unseasonably warm well into next weekend.

Friday’s forecast shows above-normal temperatures throughout Southern California.
New temperature records were recorded throughout Southern California, according to the weather service. The previous high of 103 was set in September of 1978.
The heat advisory from the National Weather Service was in effect until 8 p.m. The NWS expected cooler weather to move in by Tuesday. Woodland Hills also is expected to return to the 90s Sunday and to the 80s Thursday.
The torrid conditions prompted the NWS to issue a heat advisory, effective through 8 this evening.
Forecasters said the heat wave, the product of high pressure anchored over the southwestern United States, will peak Friday and begin to retreat Saturday, followed by a drop of five to 10 degrees Sunday. Oceanside Harbor reached 97, breaking the record of 88, set in 1994.

On Saturday, 60 people at a parade in Placentia were treated for dehydration and other heat problems as temperatures topped 100 degrees. They are advised to stay well-hydrated, avoid working in the sun, check on neighbors and relatives – especially the elderly – and provide plenty of water to pets and livestock.
