Facebook Targets YouTube with New Video Capabilities
The Video Feed, which will be the most prominent within the Facebook app, can also be accessed on the website through the Favorites section. This is perhaps because the company needs feedback from users about the new Video Feed and would want it to appear prominently, at least during the tests.

Facebook is also starting suggested videos on the web and plans to test on Android phones in the coming months.
Although this isn’t a brand new feature, the fate it’s rolling out further shows Facebook’s increasing commitment to video. “We have been testing a number of new features that give people more flexibility when watching videos, whether you’re watching a video in News Feed on-the-go or sitting down to enjoy multiple videos back-to-back”.
“We’ve also rolled out new video tools for Pages – like updates to Page Insights and video upload improvements – to help video publishers grow their businesses on Facebook”.
“To make this possible, we are testing a way for people to watch a video in a floating screen while simultaneously multitasking on Facebook”, Cathcart added.
Only a handful of users can see the new features as they are still in the testing phase.
Another development is to allow users to multitask, reading the news feed and engaging with other Facebook applications while they watch videos. Now, Facebook wants users to watch series of videos on its purpose-built platform. News from Tuesday as by ReCode has it that Facebook has started testing a new feature that that allows people to watch videos in a video hub akin to what is on offer on Google’s YouTube.
The social media site has also been working on a number of video features geared toward publishers, according to Cathcart.
For publishers Facebook began testing new video matching technology with a long-term goal of providing a comprehensive video management system for video creators.
