DICE details three new Star Wars: Battlefront game modes

Battlefront only had three modes open to the public over the weekend: Drop Zone, Walker Assault and the co-op wave fighter mode. EA has announced that there will be a tie-in DLC for the game which isbased on the movie, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, due for theatrical debut in December. That’s a huge amount compared to other season passes, which usually top out at around $30. The Season Pass will net you four upcoming expansions, as well as an exclusive “Shoot First” emote.

There is also a Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate Edition announced as well. Star Wars Battlefront may not be the most in depth shooter on the market, however, it has that insane fun spark we have been missing for quite a while – that something special that Call of Duty or Battlefield just don’t offer. To help balance this there’s an odd scoring system where the game starts at five all to both teams and points are then added and subtracted in unison as teams score.

The original Star Wars Battlefront, developed by Pandemic Studios, was one of my favorite games on the PlayStation 2 in 2004. It’s set to be one of the biggest game launches of this holiday period. That news obviously excited me, but I didn’t want to make judgement until Star Wars Battlefront was in my hands. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

To be clear, these days all video games have season passes.

Season passes come with their own fundamental issues though. Sometimes that’s not always the case. Sometimes add-on content can be too short or buggy, another problem that plagued Batman: Arkham Knight’s season pass.

“We felt a lot of pressure – good pressure, but pressure – to nail the Star Wars gaming experience”, said James Pitaro, co-chairman of Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media.
