Computer system outages delay USA travelers

Thousands of passengers are said to be backed up in the line at Customs at several USA airports because of the failure of Department of Homeland Security computer systems.

Officials confirmed at 8:22 p.m. ET that the system was having problems. “We are working on it. We’re trying to find out more information”.

“All of the sudden all of the global entry kiosks, immigration kiosks, computers at the immigration person’s stations all went blank”, he added.

“Wow Emirates [Airlines] check in line at JFK is huge!”

The technical issues have affected U.S. Customs & Border Protection Agency computers at John F. Kennedy global in New York, Boston Logan worldwide, Hartsfield-Jackson global in Atlanta, Dallas Fort-Worth global, Los Angeles worldwide and several other airports. “I hope we make our flight”, tweeted one passenger.

Electronic kiosks where passengers can fill out self-service declaration forms were down, and there were noticeably more staff at customs counters – “looks like they paged a bunch of people to come in”, passenger Jeremy Hitchcock said.
