Baltimore police announce arrest in shooting of 9-year-old
Approximately 50 protestors staged a sit-in at City Hall during Wednesday night’s meeting, according to ABC 2, which reported their demands ranged from jail alternatives to resignation of the city’s housing director after allegations of sexual abuse among staff.

Baltimore police have arrested a man they say drove the getaway auto after a still unidentified suspect shot and wounded a 9-year-old girl playing on her front stoop.
The girl was shot around 1 p.m. October. 4 in the 3500 block of Old York Road.
Police spokesman T.J. Smith believes the shooter was aiming for four people who ran from the area when the first shots rang out.
Michael Daye, 26, was the driver of vehicle involved in the shooting, police said.
“We’re hoping that his arrest today will quickly lead to the identification of the trigger-puller”, Davis said.
Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said Daye was charged with attempted murder.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said the girl “was put in harm’s way because of the cowardly actions of individuals who don’t care about themselves or the community”. “I’m thanking (the community) in advance”.
