DeNA West: First Nintendo Mobile Collaboration Announcement “Soon”

DeNA West CEO Shintaro Asako reiterates that more details are coming “soon” in regards to the company’s collaboration with Nintendo on new smartphone titles.

Nintendo partnered with mobile game and back-end creator DeNA earlier this year.

However, the DeNA boss has restrained from providing more details. Speaking at VentureBeat 2015, he said that while he couldn’t talk specifics of the deal, the first game will be announced soon.

The partnership between DeNA and Nintendo was announced in March, with the pair working on mobile games featuring Nintendo IP alongside a new cross-platform membership service for customers.

It’s been months, and Nintendo still hasn’t announced their first mobile effort. But he also suggested that the partnership will continue after that, saying that “it’s a really long-term initiative”. He also implied that the partnership between Nintendo and DeNA will go beyond 2017. “But it’s a really exciting initiative”.

That’s it. Nintendo and DeNA had already previously stated that they aim to have their first game out by the end of the year.

It would seem that both companies are looking to be working together for the long run, especially with the shift in gaming to mobile.
