Gotham Will See Paul Reubens Reprising Role of the Penguin’s Father

Paul Reubens did play Penguin’s father in Batman Returns, so it’s a nice bit of fan service on the part of Gotham.

Reubens played a different Bat-character, Bat-Mite, in the animated series Batman: The courageous and the Bold.

The recent New York Comic-Con event gave lots of details about what’s to come in Gotham and Reubens’ joining the cast is just one of the great news for the show.

For me, at least, this solidifies the direction that Gotham has been aiming to head from a stylistic standpoint, particularly in this second season: they want Tim Burton’s Batman, not Christopher Nolan’s.

For more news from New York Comic-Con, stay tuned to IGN. For those who feel as though Robin Lord Taylor has not had enough time in the spotlight over the course of the past few episodes. The actor has been making a comeback of sorts lately, even starring in the Netflix TV movie Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday. Are you excited to check out Reubens as Papa Penguin? While it hasn’t been confirmed when The Penguin’s dad will make his debut, Robin Taylor revealed during the panel that he will pop up very soon.

The plot of the episode revolves around Michael Chikils’ Captain Barnes, who alongside Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is creating a task force to take down crime.

The series is based on characters appearing in and published by DC Comics in their Batman franchise, primarily those of James Gordon and Bruce Wayne. He teased his character’s arrival, “He’s a real wallflower”. “Barnes comes in as a countermeasure to the villainy that is running amok to Gotham”.
