Two students were shot dead and four others were injured in separate campus shootings in Texas and Arizona, the latest in a string of gun-related incidents in the US.

Steven Jones, NAU shooting gunman, booking photo. The graffiti said: “Kill All By 10/8/15”. The prosecutor said Brough was hit twice in the chest and shoulder with Jones’.40-caliber handgun. Bail was set at $2 million. He appeared via video in court from the Coconino County Jail, and cried as the charges were read against him.
One pupil was killed, a freshman in the institution, the university supported, and another man was wounded. Their names were not released.
He said Brough was “a good guy”.
The fraternity collected donations in memory of Brough and in honor of the three wounded brothers.
NAU Dean of Students Cynthia Anderson asked the mourners to light candles and shine their cellphone lights.
Students described how they were awoken by a university text message warning them of the shooting or by calls from anxious friends and family.
Brough told The Arizona Republic that he didn’t understand why an 18-year-old would have a pistol in his auto.
It’s still unclear what propelled Jones to open fire at the early Friday morning fraternity party. Witnesses told police that the victims were unarmed.
Arizona Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick stated, “Those of us who call Flagstaff home know that NAU is the heart of our community”.
Jones is being charged with first-degree homicide and three counts of aggravated assault.
The shooting happened in a parking area just outside Mountain View Hall dormitory on the Flagstaff campus. He also told that the suspect is co-operating with the law-enforcement agencies. But he criticized what he said was a culture among students who believe they shouldn’t snitch on each other.
“I’m very lucky”, he said.

Sigma Chi fraternity does not have an active chapter at Northern Illinois University.
The alleged gunman was not a member of the fraternity.
Police have detained two “persons of interest”, but the shooter remains at large.
The university says an error resulted in only “partial distribution” of the initial alert. It certainly counts for the person who died and for their family.
In Kentucky, authorities said a report of shots fired on a college campus turned out to be unfounded.
Brough was from Castle Rock, Colorado, about 30 miles south of downtown Denver.
Authorities say the shooting erupted in a confrontation between two student groups.
Nicholas Prato is the victim who has been released from the hospital, and he even attended a vigil last night on campus.
It is unclear what sparked the shooting, which took place near Mountain View Hall, a dormitory that houses most of the campus’ students involved in Greek organizations. He said the state stood ready to help in the investigation and response.
Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick lives in Flagstaff.
“Even when the dark comes, it can’t overcome the light of you”, she said. But she expressed confidence that the city “will only grow stronger in hard moments like these”.
Sen. John McCain, an Arizona Republican, also issued a statement. A lot of those we talked to said they’d travelled from elsewhere to make their voices hear. The suspected shooter is in custody.
The incident at NAU was the first of two deadly shootings on or near a college campus Friday.
