The site reports that the film “is sort of a prequel while still leaving room for Willis to play McClane as well”. Here’s where things get weird though; Bruce Willis is set to return, though only in scenes which are expected to bookend the movie’s main story. There have been rumors circling about a Die Hard 6 movie for awhile, but it seems to have recently picked up a little more steam. Willis has reportedly been kept in the loop throughout this process, since he and di Bonaventura have a close relationship. Published in 2009 and 2010, the first four-issue miniseries was written by Howard Chaykin and took place in the Big Apple during the 1976 bicentennial. The project is still in the early stages, and one of the next steps will be to find a screenwriter to “reinvent” the action series. Now, we can look forward to a few new young actor squinting his way through trips to the explosion factor and deploying his best Bruce Willis impression to crack wise at a bunch of winking hints to the original film. The last installment, the John Moore-directed A Good Day To Die Hard, though not a crowd pleaser, did gross just north of $300 million, showing the viability of the franchise. It made up ground overseas for a worldwide total of $304.7 million.
