Here’s When the Overwatch Beta Starts
While team-based shooters are nothing new to gaming, the genre is new to Blizzard. The Overwatch beta is coming, and you might be lucky enough to play come October 27th.

If you’ve still not signed up for the beta, it’s not too late.
Blizzard has announced the start date of the closed beta for its upcoming team shooter, Overwatch.
“We’re aiming to accomplish two primary goals with our public beta test”, Blizzard explained in a blog post. The Closed Beta group will form the core of our testing crew.
“Because beta test weekends are primarily hardware – and tech-focused, the number of heroes, maps, and gameplay modes will be restricted – but feedback on everything will definitely be welcome”. The closed beta will kick off on October 27 in the Americas region, with a small number of testers to get regular access to the beta.
Correction: This story originally stated that Overwatch is entering an open beta. These larger scale tests will typically run over a weekend and are poised to cram as many heroes as it can into it’s servers. Luckily Blizzard isn’t stopping at just a closed beta; they’ve also revealed plans for open beta weekends where all players will be able to download and help stress test Overwatch’s servers. Blizzard says that they’re planning multiple beta weekends for Overwatch throughout different territories.
The Overwatch beta will be available only on Windows PCs. The first beta weekend is expected after BlizzCon.

In order to participate, fans will have to register on the Battle Net site of Blizzard and then wait to get called up via email, like in most beta tests.
