The former Borussia Dortmund manager replaces Brendan Rodgers at Anfield, and admitted he felt there was a negative atmosphere around the club that he is looking to change.

“If I am sitting here in four years, we will win one title [piece of silverware] in this time”.

“I think the supporters will need to fasten their seat belts – I’m sure they will really enjoy him”, said Dalglish.

“It’s not so important what people think when you come in – it’s about what you think when you leave”. They have presented to me a very clear vision and I share their ambitions and model of work.

It is 25 years since Liverpool last won the league – their 18th top-flight title – under Kenny Dalglish.

“I think its one of the biggest problems in Liverpool and on the island”, he added.

It’s an appointment that has sent the Merseyside club’s fans into a frenzy, as one of England’s most successful clubs tries to claw their way back to a position of credibility in the football world.

This short clip includes the spine tingling moment when the Yellow Wall salute Klopp, who stands speechless before them on the penalty spot, one last time. This is a great club with a great team and big potential.

Explaining what attracted him to the city and the club, Klopp said: “Perhaps Liverpool is the most interesting job in world football at the moment”.

“But it’s not the day for promising a certain style of football”.

When quizzed about whether he had a tagline akin to Jose Mourinho ” s “special one’, Klopp followed the approach of former Chelsea boss Avram Grant and reluctantly said he was the “normal one”.

“I’m a normal guy from the Black Forest and I don’t compare myself to these genius managers in the history of Liverpool. I’m a normal manager and I want to work with the players on the pitch”, he said. If we want, and we are prepared to work for it, if you are patient, all these things, if we want.

– Tony Barrett (@TonyBarretTimes) October 9, 2015 Klopp: “I’m a football romantic”. I had two very, very special clubs with Mainz and Borussia Dortmund. You can only stay confident in the game when not every offensive move of the other team is a goal. It’s nothing. If two smart, intelligent, clever guys sit together on a table and you both want the same, where can be the problem?
