Two men charged in relation to Curtis Cheng murder

The Hong Kong-born accountant was leaving the Parramatta police headquarters when Farhad Jabar opened fire and killed him. The second man, an 18-year-old Wentworthville man, who was arrested on Wednesday 7 October, and has remained in custody under specified time provisions, outlined in Section 23DD of the Commonwealth Crimes Act 1914, has also been arrested today and is in the process of being charged.

Police said the 22-year-old was arrested in west Merrylands at 10:45am and taken to a police station for questioning.

The 15-year-old was subsequently shot dead by officers on duty.

Mr Cheng’s funeral is due to be held at Sydney’s St Mary’s Cathedral on Saturday morning.

Australian Federal Police commissioner Andrew Colvin said police used the full array of laws available to them for the investigation.

“I want to acknowledge and thank the Sydney joint counter-terrorism team for their dedication, professionalism and meticulous work around the clock”.

Commissioner Scipione said he was happy with the arrests. “This is just another step along that path”, he said.

A TEENAGE Sydney terror suspect faces another day in custody without being charged after the Australian Federal Police (AFP) was granted a fresh court order.
