Leonardo DiCaprio To Produce Movie Based On Volkswagen ‘Clean Diesel’ Scandal

The production company Appian Way, which DiCaprio owns, and Paramount Pictures acquired the rights to the publishing project by New York Times journalist Jack Ewing about the business philosophy behind the scandal involving diesel emissions by vehicles of the German automaker, EFE reported on Tuesday.

The film stars Mark Wahlberg. In fact, the production of this video would make Volkswagen to look bad with what’s going on to the company.

Actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio plans on producing a film with Paramount Studios about the Volkswagen “clean diesel” scandal for Paramount, according to Variety Magazine. Norton purchased the publishing rights to the book for “mid-six figures” with Paramount ponying up an unspecified amount for the movie rights.

It’s not likely that the book or the movie will treat Volkswagen kindly.

Ewing, in his book, will investigate how a “more, better, faster” ethos fueled one of the greatest frauds in corporate history, said the Hollywood Reporter.

So what was the Volkswagen emissions scandal really all about?

The auto giant stands accused of installing software on millions of diesel cars to cheat emissions tests and evade limits on nitrogen oxide and other pollutants. The company’s Chief Martin Winterkorn resigned due to the breaking of this scandal while the company faces upto $18 billion in the form of fines from the US Environmental Protection Agency.
