Katy Perry Used to Sing For a Metal Band
The Alternative Press reports Perry was a backup vocalist for the American Christian alternative metal band, P.O.D. Well, she did, and there’s video to prove it. That is until her management told her she could likely make a bigger splash as a pop artist.

Religious music is where Katy got her start: before her 2008 platinum selling album One Of The Boys, which shifted around 5million copies worldwide, there was her 2001 gospel debut album titled Katy Hudson, which sold around 200.
Katy Perry is officially getting in on the celebrity app game, and it looks like she’s bringing her green hair, Left Shark and a little something from her iconic album covers along for the ride.
While her current stage show is a Lisa Frank sticker come to life, Katy does credit her early rock-influenced beginnings as a boon. “I really got my bearings there”. Check out Perry performing with the band on The Tonight Show above, and P.O.D.’s music video “Goodbye for Now” (not to be confused with “Goodbye to You”) below.

Not only did Perry do backup vocals for the band, she also appeared on a 2006 episode of The Tonight Show With Jay Leno alongside the band for a live performance!
