Samsung launches Tizen-based Smartphone Z3 in India

Samsung is expanding its lineup of Tizen-based phones with the Z3. However, whether Z3 will ever set its feet on United Kingdom soil can only be answered by someone within Samsung’s strategic decision-making fold.

Tizen OS is lighter than Android and that was why Android was dumped. Previously Samsung had announced that the Z3 would arrive first for India, Bangladesh, and Nepal, and news of it being made official arrived at the launch for India. The Samsung Z3 also features the “Mix Radio” app, available exclusively from Samsung.

The Samsung Z3 will go on sale in India on October 21 at Rs 8,490.

Samsung launched its first Tizen phone, the Samsung Z1, in India earlier this year, in January.

Samsung, the world’s largest vendor of smartphones, relies on Android to power nearly all of its smartphones.

“Rather than the 800×480 4.0” LCD screen of the Z1, the latest incarnation sports a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display. There is also 8GB internal storage along with microSD card support for expansion up to 128GB. This is actually the second Tizen smartphone from Samsung, which is a bit odd since we thought that they would have gone with the Samsung Z2 name.

The company also unveiled the My Galaxy app, which will be available for Samsung devices via Google Play and the Tizen Store. We have news on the Samsung Z3 price at the New Delhi launch and also the availability date and specs. As an introductory offer, Vodafone buyers will get 1GB of free data per month for a period of two months.

As we said, the phone comes with Tizen on board.

Samsung further claims that the new Z3 model incorporates a few efficient compression and management features that can cut mobile data usage by up to 40%. The phone has a 2,600 mAh battery. Further, the 5 megapixel front-facing camera offers advanced selfie capabilities, which is complemented by various photography modes ranging from “Automatic Selfie” mode with facial recognition, “Beauty Face” mode that automatically retouches images for flawless skin to “Wide Selfie” mode to capture up to 120 degrees angle for that ideal group selfie shot.
