Michigan fans vandalize Michigan State’s Magic Johnson statue
Additionally, a Michigan State spokesman told Mlive.com that other areas were also vandalized, including a brick wall behind the campus’ famous Spartan statue and a sidewalk near an intramural field.

Normally, the standard campus clashing between U-M and MSU in the week before the games comes down to the Sparty statue near Spartan Stadium getting splashed with maize or blue paint.
Still, Michigan State head basketball coach Tom Izzo was predictably less than pleased. Both of these iconic landmarks are usually well-guarded in the week before game day, but obviously, Magic Johnson wasn’t so lucky.

Spartan basketball player Alvin Ellis, a junior, tweeted a photo of the damage. “We are going to be out here for a while”. According to the Lansing State Journal, it will likely take multiple man hours and perhaps thousands of dollars to rid the statue of the paint. These in state rivalries typically bring out a lot of school pride and a few not well thought out pranks that do not always end up being amusing, as the vandalism of the Magic Johnson statue proves.
