Liverpool FC unveiled German Jurgen Klopp as their new manager on Thursday night following the sacking of Northern Irishman Brendan Rodgers on Sunday after a poor start to the new season that saw the Reds win only three off their eleven games.

Liverpool’s director Ian Ayre told reporters that Klopp “told us he wouldn’t have broken his sabbatical for any other job”. “I had two special clubs in Mainz and Borussia Dortmund and it’s the flawless step for me”.

And Carragher, who spent his whole career with the club, says it’s a huge coup to land Klopp ahead a few of the world’s biggest clubs.

Dalglish, the last manager to bring the league title to Anfield back in 1990 and a victor of six league titles and three European Cups with the Reds as a player, said: “I just heard Klopp’s press conference and he sounds very, very impressive”.

“Now I am here: I hope to enjoy my work!”

They finished sixth last season and Klopp said: “This is one of the biggest problems you have here, in the island”.

“You have to change from doubters to believers”.

No managerial appointment has captured public interest in the Barclays Premier League quite like this since Jose Mourinho first arrived at Chelsea in 2004 and called himself “The Special One”. I want these guys [the current squad], it was a decision for these guys.

“It’s one of the best moments in my life, to be here with my family”.

“This is a great club with good potential with players who are flexible”, he said.

“It’s not so important what people think when you come in – it’s about what you think when you leave”. Everything is there. Let’s try to start a new way and this is the ideal moment to start.

“I’m not here today to speak too much about football and I didn’t meet my team until now”.

“I’m not a dream man; I don’t want to have Cristiano (Ronaldo) or Lionel (Messi) and all these players in one team. Its up to you to prove they are liars!” “I don’t want to say we have to wait the next 20 years”.

“He possesses all the qualities we are looking for in a manager – he is a strong, inspirational leader, who has a clear philosophy of high-energy, attacking football”.
