Nisar urges PTI to shun politics of confrontation

He said the government provided all facilities [in the by-elections] as demanded by the PTI chief Imran Khan.

Addressing a press conference here, the interior minister said abusing opponents was not the politics.

“Not a single vote was removed and changed after August 26”, Nisar said, rejecting the allegations of Imran Khan about conspiracy.

Under this SOP, NADRA would maintain the record of Chinese nationals residing and visiting Pakistan and would share this database with all federal and provincial authorities of the country. And even the ECP could not make changes without the consent and application of the voters.

Reading out figures of transfer of votes from a constituency of Punjab, he said since 2013 election, 25,929 more voters have been registered in NA-122 after they had reached 18 years benchmark.

Responding to a query, the minister said that the affairs of the government and civil-military institutions were being run in an effective way and he coordinated with the military leadership directly without interaction of the defence ministry.

Air Marshal (r) Asghar Khan, the petitioner in the case, had alleged that the country’s premier intelligence agency, ISI, had distributed Rs140 million among politicians in the 1990 elections to form the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) and prevent Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Benazir Bhutto from winning the polls.

Answering another question, Ch. Nisar said during Prime Minister’s visit to United States a heavy agenda is expected to be discussed.

“Pakistan and China must not underestimate the threats to the CPEC from the elements that oppose socio-economic development of the region and feel uncomfortable with growing Pak-China friendship”, he said.
