FX Orders ‘Atlanta’ To Series

FX has picked up to series Atlanta, its half-hour comedy pilot created by and starring Donald Glover and directed by Hiro Murai.

Glover will play “Earnest “Earn” Marks”, a college drop-out who reconnects with his long buried ambition and sets out to seize the life he imagined for himself when his estranged cousin becomes a sudden star.

“Atlanta will be produced in-house via FX Productions, with Glover, Simms and Dianne McGunigle of MGMT Entertainment on board as exec producers”.

In addition to acting on Community, Glover was a writer for 30 Rock. The comedian and writer, who was born in Stone Mountain, Georgia, * also moonlights as successful rapper Childish Gambino who has had several well-received albums and mixtapes to go along with numerous festival appearances.

Fans of Donald Glover, or fans of TV shows in general, might already be aware that Community alum Donald Glover has been trying to get a “semi-autobiographical” series entitled Atlanta off the ground over two years. Brian’s numerous theatre credits include the origination of the role of General in Broadway’s Book of Mormon. Stanfield is represented by Jennifer Patredis at Innovative, Colin Stark, and Lev Ginsburg of Ginsburg Daniels LLP. Beetz is now shooting “Wolves” for writer/director Bart Freundlich.
