County Health Departments to offer flu clinics
The Health Department administered around 2,000 flu shots, for free, to Muskingum County residents who didn’t even have to leave their vehicles.

NewsChannel 9 reached out to a half-dozen family practices around Onondaga County and each one has a supply of FluMist and shots for patients.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone age 6 months old and older get a flu vaccine each year.
Beginning mid-October, Riverwood Healthcare Center will offer high dose influenza vaccine for persons 65 and older, which provides a better immune response.
“We are learning more and more about the benefits of influenza vaccination every year”, said State Health Commissioner Dr. Terry Cline.
“Getting our flu vaccination is really about protecting other people, not just ourselves”, said TDH Commissioner John Dreyzehner, MD, MPH, in a press release issued from the state.
Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) is offering the seasonal flu vaccine at all of its six clinics for children eligible for Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC).
County health departments will accept SoonerCare, Medicare, all private health insurance, cash, checks, or credit cards as payment for flu vaccine.
Dexter Arnold of Colbert, Oklahoma said he has never had the flu and has been getting the flu shot for the last five years. She said the 2015-16 vaccine would aid in preventing 60 to 70 percent of flu strains and 90 percent of deaths related to influenza. “Last year was a very specific year in the sense that they guessed right on the virus but the virus actually mutated during the course from when we started to produce the vaccine to when flu season came along”, Routledge added.
The Macon County Health Department received its shipments of flu vaccinations over the past several weeks.
The CDC said this year’s vaccine is expected do a better job of protecting you.
If you do happen to get the flu, go to the doctor immediately and ask for an antiviral medicine such as Tamiflu. The clinic also is ideal for people who might who have difficulty walking, since they will not need to leave their vehicles in order to get the shot.
The Illinois Department of Public Health is encouraging people to get ready now.

Common symptoms of the flu include fever or feeling feverish, a cough and/or sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, chills, fatigue and body aches.
