Microsoft unveils new Windows 10-powered devices

Earlier this week, Microsoft revealed its new line of products, including three new Lumia devices, and two new Surface devices. Even as Microsoft has positioned the Surface as a laptop replacement, it’s making a separate Surface laptop model, the Surface Book.

“We have the best engineers who understand portability and performance”, Panay said. And while the Surface Book is called a laptop, the screen is detachable so that it effectively becomes a tablet. Microsoft says the Surface Book is housed in a machined magnesium body – basically, it’s a silver metal laptop, but it manages to look far different than a MacBook, despite its similarities in name, reports The Verge.

The new Surface Pro 4 improves on its 12-inch predecessor with a 12.3-inch display at 267 pixels per inch (5 megapixels) using Gorilla Glass 4, but retains the same footprint. There’s also an Nvidia GeForce GPU with GDDR5 memory, which is located in the base and will need the display kept docked to tap into its power.

The Surface Pro 4 featuresas much as 16GB of RAM and is known to support 1TB of SSD storage (starting at a minimum of 128GB).

It is not clear why Satya Nadella Microsoft chose to make an entrance in 2015, when it appears the PC market is having a slow death.
