Obama and his wife, Michelle, marked the history of American music Wednesday night as they hosted the PBS television program “In Performance at the White House”. She said, “Our long-running series “In Performance at the White House” showcases American creativity as expressed through music for the American people”.

Even the White House believes the next Democratic presidential candidate can’t run as President Barack Obama’s third term – and that includes Vice President Joe Biden.

“Except me”, Obama added.

At a morning workshop at the White House, the first lady advised students training with a few of the artists that failure and rejection are part of the steps toward achieving success.

Earnest’s phrasing is quite the reversal from what he said last month when asked if Obama would tune into the GOP’s second verbal tumble, starring frontrunner Donald Trump.

Following the First Lady’s remarks, the participating students will sit down with Smokey Robinson, Keb’ Mo’, MC Lyte, Esperanza Spalding, and Trombone Shorty to write and perform their own songs during the workshop. “You just learn to pick yourself up”. Students from three schools in the following communities will participate: Manassas, VA; Herndon, VA; and Landover, MD. James Taylor and Trombone Shorty also are performing.

Before the breakout session, Mrs. Obama encouraged the students to work hard and practice their craft – whether writing or mathematics.

President and CEO of WETA, Sharon Percy Rockefeller will be joining in as a co-producer for the special expressed her excitement, “It is a great privilege to join the White House in honoring the importance of humanities and arts to our nation’s culture”. “You all are just as important as those dignitaries that we invite here”.
