Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium slated for 21 October India launch
The upcoming Sony flagship devices should also receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow update starting December 2016. Sony also announced that AOSP for Xperia Z5 is also included in the latest package. Sony has now confirmed that developers can work on custom ROMs for Xperia devices before the new OS is released to Sony Xperia smartphones.

Sony has started sending media invites for the launch event of the new Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium phones in India. For now, developers can dig in with what Sony has to offer for now in its Open Device Program, and perhaps come up with their own custom Android Marshmallow ROMs for XPeria as well as for other line of Android devices.
“For all you open source fans, we’ve just added an AOSP Marshmallow (Android 6.0) configuration and binaries available for download, as part of Sony’s Open Device program”.
It also released the list of its models that will be updated with the Android Marshmallow release date approaching fast which includes: 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (third-gen), 2015 Moto X Style (third-gen), 2015 Moto X Play, 2015 Moto G (third-gen), 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the USA (second-gen), 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia (second-gen), 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE2 (second-gen), 2014 Moto Maxx, 2014 Moto Turbo, Android Standard said. In addition, both of the Xperia devices has already listed at the Sony India’s official website that makes the unveiling of Xperia Z5 Dual and Xperia Z5 Premium Dual, more likely.
Sony Mobile also noted that over-the-air updates for mobile carriers will depend on the operators, and the timing and availability will also vary.

Aside from cooking custom Android 6.0-based ROMs, the Sony Open Device program also tests stock platforms. Moreover, owners of Xperia smartphones and tablets who will not get a software update can also experience the new OS on their gadgets.
