Santa Claus/Facebook With 70 days till Christmas, Santa Claus will be a little busy this holiday season with a new gig.

Elyse Dawson, who also launched a write-in campaign, came in second with 29 votes. The candidate in third place received 26 votes, The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports. It grew full, soft and white, and people started telling him he should portray Santa Claus at Christmas.

“My thanks to everyone who voted for me… and all who supported my campaign”, he said after his victory.

The 68-year-old began campaigning on the streets of the 2,200-person city two weeks before the vote, in a red velvet outfit, naturally, after no other candidates declared interest in the two available positions.
