U.S. Airman Spencer Stone, one of several Americans who helped thwart a terrorist attack on board an worldwide train bound for Paris, has been released from UC Davis Medical Center in California, where he had been undergoing treatment after a stabbing last week.
Airman 1st Class Spencer Stone, 23, of Carmichael, Calif., reportedly spent time with a male friend and three women October. 7 at two bars in the Midtown area of Sacramento, and witnesses saw him early the next morning carrying a friend who was unable to walk. Stone and the others received France’s highest award, the Legion d’Honneur, for their actions by President Francois Hollande.
Police believe the stabbers are two Asian men, who were wearing white shirts and blue jeans when the assault occurred.
U.C. Davis Medical Center CEO Ann Madden Rice expressed her appreciation for the team that supported Stone’s recovery. He is assigned to Travis Air Force Base.
“Thanks very much to the first responders and the team here at UC Davis Medical Center for taking such good care of me”, Stone said.
The medical center issued a news release announcing Stone’s release and expressing his and his family’s gratitude for the public’s support.

Police have said the assault had nothing to do with the European terror plot.
In August, Stone, Army National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler were all credited with helping to stop gunman Ayoub el-Qahzzani after he opened fire on a Paris-bound train.

His release from hospital comes as police revealed new CCTV images of his attackers fleeing the scene in a auto.
