A “creative barricade” was unveiled at the two locations, designed by Arabic calligrapher Samir Sayegh, considered to be the “perfect way for Apple to say “hello” to the UAE”.
That Apple was preparing to open the doors of the world’s biggest Apple Store in Dubai was no secret, but Apple has still not clarified the size of the Dubai store, leaving that open to further speculation.
According to the report, Apple’s goal to set up shops-within-shops in India through retail partnerships is a strategic move to control customer experience without dealing with bureaucratic red tape.
Apple has for ages been rumored to be on the cusp of establishing a UAE retail presence, which a few anticipated to be the business’s first in the Middle East. Yet, that honor fell to Turkey when the glass cuboid-limited Istanbul Apple Store opened in April.
During the “reveal” of the Mall of the Emirates’ $1 billion extension on September 28, the mall’s management had chosen to remain tight-lipped about the Apple Store.
There is a possibility that at one of the upcoming Apple event, where Tim Cook walks up to the stage and showcases a new Apple Store, that he would be talking about a store in India.
The mall had announced an exhaustive line-up of chic stores that opened on the day on Level 2 of the mall.
In August, The National reported the UAE was a target market for the technology giant.
Although the six locations will be at Croma’s own stores and will not be operated by Apple Inc, they will feature the signature design, furniture, fixtures and lighting used in Apple stores worldwide and the staff will be trained by the company itself.
