Tunisia arrests seven suspects post Sousse beach resort killings

Police are already quizzing seven suspects, and one of Tunisia’s top security officials has confirmed Rezgui trained in neighbouring Libya at the same time as the attackers who killed 22 tourists at the Bardo museum in March. The Daily Mail said the gunman was linked to Saifallah Ben Hassine, a fanatic who was based in London for at least three years and a disciple of the cleric Abu Qatada.

The source spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to be publicly named.

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere also said that the four countrues would work together against the terrorists.

The 24-year-old attacker, who used a Kalashnikov assault rifle and grenades, was killed by police after Friday’s carnage in Sousse.

Cameron said he has been in touch with Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi and also thanked Tunisian authorities for their assistance.

The number of Britons confirmed killed by the Islamist gunman in Friday’s attack has risen to 18 from 15 and the final death toll of Britons is likely to increase to around 30 people, a British spokeswoman said.

France’s travel agencies union said 80 percent of package holidays booked for Tunisia in July have been cancelled, with customers rushing to change destinations.

“We won’t give up our way of life and cower in the face of terrorism”, Cameron said, underlining the need both to fight IS jihadists in Iraq and Syria and to tackle non-violent extremists in Britain.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, the Prime Minister said Islamic terrorists “have declared war on Britain and they are attacking our people at home and overseas”.

“We have started by arresting a first group, a significant number of people, from the network that was behind this terrorist criminal”, Gharsalli was quoted as saying.

When asked whether she believed British tourists had been deliberately targeted, May said there was no evidence to suggest so.

Standing on the sand surrounded by security officials, they at one point put their arms on each other’s shoulders. Local news accounts suggest that Rezgui may have had as many as 10 people help him prepare for the attack.

It said: “We are devastated with the tragic loss of the most lovely, amazing, caring and gentle person in our lives“.
