New ‘Live GIF’ App Turns Live Photos Into GIFs

As you probably know, along with the actual image, the feature captures a second and a half of movement and sound before and after the photo is taken.

Priime CEO Arthur Chang says the idea with Live GIF was to experiment with 3D Touch and iPhone 6s capabilities – as well as building “a really easy app that just does what everyone wants with Live Photos“, Techcrunch reported. Today, a company named Priime launched a new app which makes them easily shareable and viewable with anyone, regardless of device or platform. From there, you can simply select the Live Photos you wish to convert to a GIF or video, and then you can share them to different social networks on the fly. The resulting file can then be shared anywhere, and the app provides a simple sharing mechanism for quick access to things like iMessage and Facebook. After opening, you’ll be greeted with all of the Live Photos on your device. While “sharing Live Photos” can not exactly be listed as a problem, per se, it is one issue that 6s owners have been complaining about since day one: There’s no easy way to share a Live Photo with someone who doesn’t have an iPhone 6s or an iPhone 6s Plus.

Live Photos is not a separate app and every picture that we take on the iPhone 6S or the 6S Plus by default is a live photo. Inside the app, you can quickly preview the Live Photos with the Peek and Pop gestures. The Live GIF app is available for download on the iTunes and is priced modestly at $1.99. The app is highly recommended.

“We originally created this with iOS 9.1, because working with Live Photos is well documented and supported, but we chose to go further and push to get it working with iOS 9.0 so we wouldn’t have to wait for 9.1 to come out of beta”, he adds.

iPhone 6s users can now share Live Photos as animated GIFs
