The nature of this air mass is that widespread freezing temperatures and not expected, but areas that are traditionally touched by frost and freezing temperatures are likely to see them this weekend.
Frost describes the formation of thin ice crystals on the ground or other surfaces in the form of scales, needles, feathers, or fans. It’s already going to be cold, but it looks as if we may clear out Saturday morning as well. If a frost period is sufficiently severe to end the growing season or delay its beginning, it is commonly referred to as a “killing frost”. Temperatures will be more reminiscent of late November than the middle of October (think typical Thanksgiving weather).A brisk wind from the northwest may gust to 30 or even 40 miles per hour on Saturday. Here is when our first freezing low occurred the past few years. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed in the cold if left uncovered, according to the advisory.

The most common way to protect you plants from frost, is by covering them with a cloth or burlap sack. Temperatures will stay in the 40s despite a fair amount of sunshine.
