Khan won’t fight Pacquiao

He had been negotiating for an early 2016 fight with six-weight world champion Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) for quite a few time after American Mayweather’s snub, but his offer has apparently been rejected. I am not going to wait around for Manny like I did for Mayweather. All that was left to do is to sign the contract.

Khan’s another prospect as opponent is someone he has fought before.

The leading candidate thus far is Amir Khan, though there are other names in the mix which could be added such as Timothy Bradley Jr., Terence Crawford and even the allegedly retired Floyd Mayweather Jr. The chase for Mayweather ended when Mayweather selected Andre Berto as an opponent for what is supposed to be the last fight of Mayweather’s undefeated career which has prompted negotiations for a fight with Pacquiao.

As vice chairperson of the House of Representatives committee on overseas workers affairs, Pacquiao vows to fight for the rights of Overseas Filipino Workers once elected to the Senate. “Or else, why pull out of a fight when there is a lot of money on the table?”

Recent reports say that the former eight-division champion is trying to negotiate for a rematch with the number one pound-for-pound along with his talks with Khan.

Khan, however, is said to be “looking at other options”, which includes a rematch with Danny Garcia.

“I’m just working on getting the best fight for myself and hopefully it will be Pacquiao but nothing has been moving forward”. It’s probably why he lost the Mayweather fight.

Pacquiao is planning to leave the sport after one more fight, which will be in 2016, to pursue his aspirations of serving the Philippines as a senator.

Khan stated in previous interviews that he is willing to fight Pacquiao, whom he considers his friend.

The Pacman, who’s also the playing-coach of the Mahindra basketball team in the PBA, just came from New York City where he was awarded as one of Asia Society’s Game Changers of the Year. With his surgically repaired shoulder 80 to 90 percent healed, Pacquiao’s bout with Khan was expected to be announced before the year ends.
