Homemade explosive wounds 5 in Colombian capital, police say : News

Two explosions rocked the Colombian capital Bogota on Thursday leaving at least five people hurt, according to firefighters, who said the cause was not immediately known. The eighth victim was wounded by a blast at a Porvenir branch in the Puente Aranda area in the west of the city.

Health officials said none of the wounded suffered serious injuries.

The Liberal Party candidate for Bogota mayor, Rafael Pardo, one of the first to arrive at the financial district blast site, told reporters that “one can not discount a threat by the FARC at this time” and he asked for authorities and the public to take every precaution.

Double explosions in Colombia’s capital Bogota have wounded eight people.

The first of the blasts on Thursday was in the offices of Porvenir pension funds in Bogota’s financial district, where seven people were injured.

None of the 10 were badly injured but Defense Minister Luis Carlos Villegas branded the blasts “terrorist acts, no doubt”.
